A smart addition to off-grid working

This latest addition to the Bluetti stable is a backup battery. It is not small, but it is much easier to carry than something like an EB70, and it is a lot lighter. At 20cm wide, 20cm deep, 6.5cm high and 2.2 Kg it would need to be carried in a backpack or similar. It comes equipped with a USB C, two USB A sockets (one rated at 18W and the other at 5v/2.1A) and a multipoint DC socket (20v/8A). Included are 12 individual plug options to connect to the 2m cable that is supplied to go into the 20v DC socket.It appears to be a well-built, aesthetically pleasing, easy to use and easy to recharge device that offers an excellent amount of power and connectivity not seen in many others in this price/power sector.

Typically I carry a MacBook Pro, an iPad Pro and an iPhone 16 Pro. I also use a Panasonic ToughPad FZ-G1 for the times I have to use Windows. The MacBook Pro has a MagSafe terminator which is not in the Bluetti pack, but I have a USB C to MagSafe adaptor so all is good. The standard USB A to Lightning cable supplied by Apple works perfectly in either of the USB A sockets. The USB C socket is bi-directional in that this is how you charge the X20 as well as being a socket for devices. The display allows you to see the state of charge in the X20 and the draw you are taking from it. It comes with just over a 50% charge and it takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to take that to 100% using a Standard Apple USB C charger (20W).To use it is simplicity itself, just plug your device in and off it goes. That said, it would have been helpful to know the supply voltage/current that each of the supplied tips offer. A Qi charger would also have been nice as the top offers the space (similar to the EB70).

In summary, the Bluetti X20 is a highly portable and flexible backup power supply that suits anywhere that is off grid, or is unable to offer a power supply (building sites for example). The range of devices it can service is probably the largest I’ve ever seen.
